Sodas would increase up to 85% risk of diabetes type II
By Luis Quiroz Ravines
Daily drink a soda, seemingly harmless, raises the risk of diabetes type II by
up to 85%, but also increases the chances of developing other diseases, especially obesity, due to its high content of sugar and extra calories that finally become kilos of extra weight.
This is demonstrated by a study recently conducted among a large number of women. Diabetes, due to abuse of sugar in all its forms, and to wrong eating habits of the population is becoming a worldwide disease. In the US alone there are over 20 million diabetics, double those who had, just 15 years ago. In Peru, the disease is also increasing and preventive measures are essential.
On average, a 12-ounce can of regular Coke contains about 9 teaspoons of sugar, ie about 39 grams of total sugar.
Sodas can cause other diseases
But regular soda consumption, not only produces diabetes and obesity, you can also have other consequences. University of British researchers suggest that sodium benzoate, a common preservative found in soft drinks, can damage vital parts of DNA, which eventually result in diseases like Parkinson's or liver cirrhosis.
When a professor of molecular biology in England measured the impact of sodium benzoate on living cells, he found that mitochondria DNA important cells were damaged. Mitochondria serve as a "power station" for cells and cell damage can generate a serious run poorly associated with premature aging and related diseases. DNA, as is known, is the main component of the genetic material of the vast majority of organisms with RNA. It is the primary chemical constituent of chromosomes and the material in which the genes are encoded.
Sodas could also raise the risk of esophageal cancer
On the other hand, a recent study reveals that those who frequently consume carbonated drinks, which really is a high percentage of the world's population could be at higher risk of developing esophageal cancer. (Throat cancer) The study showed a strong relationship between people who consumed carbonated beverages and the number of cases of esophageal cancer in the last 20 years. Statistics show that consumption of soft drinks grew in the last 25 years at 450% and esophageal cancer grew in the same period by 570%.
The biological explanation is that increased esophageal acid exposure leads to gastric distension in turn causes acid reflux. The investigation showed that the average consumer of soft drinks is exposed additional 32,000 minutes a year, exposure to gastric acid.
So normalize insulin levels is one of the wisest steps you can take to improve health and reduce the risk of obesity, cancer and diabetes. And one of the ways is to reduce the consumption of soft drinks containing high levels of sugar. Remember that sugar and grains cause the body to produce insulin, and high insulin levels accelerate aging.
