Lack Of sleep can cause death, but excess as well
By Luis Quiroz Ravines
Sleep represents the daily recovery and return biological process and lack of dream has significant deleterious effects on health. Experts recommend a minimum of 7 hours of dream and those who sleep less generally has a poor health, poor performance at work, social interaction problems, etc, as noted by the National Sleep Foundation. The Foundation explains that there is a close relationship between sleep quality and quality of life.
Do You have healthy dream?
Researchers from the Universities of Warwick and London University have found that lack of sleep can double the risk of death from cardiovascular disease. But they also found that too much can also double the risk of death. Professor Francesco Cappuccio reveal how sleep patterns affected the degree of mortality among 10,308 patients observed.
The research took into account other possible factors such as age, sex, occupation, marital status, physical activity, alcohol consumption, cigarette. The study lasted 5 years with a projection of mortality from 11 to 17 years later. Those who cut their sleep pattern 7 to 5 hours or less had almost twice watering all-cause mortality and the risk of a cardiovascular problem in particular also increased twice. (7 hours a night is recommended as an appropriate period for an adult time)
Excess of dream has its risks
Curiously the researchers also found that too much dream increases mortality. They found that those who slept eight hours or more were twice as likely to die predominantly from non-cardiovascular disease than those who did not change their sleep habits 7 hours a day.
On the other hand lack of sleep it has been shown to be a risk factor for obesity, hypertension, diabetes type 2 and other disorders. In terms of prevention, Professor Cappuccio said, our findings indicate that a consistent sleep 7 hours per night is optimal for health time and a substantial reduction may predispose to ill health.
In a different study from the New England Research Institute and Yale School determined that those who sleep too much or too little, dramatically increase your risk of developing diabetes type 2, six to eight hours of sleep was found to be healthier, in contrast to people who they reported sleeping 5 to 6 hours a night and increased double their risk of developing diabetes, and men who slept more than 8 hours a night tripled their risk of developing diabetes. These high risk for diabetes persisted even after adjusting for age, hypertension levels, education, health status etc.The Dr. Yaggi of Yale University says that just are beginning to recognize the implications of metabolism and hormones in relation to little or too much sleep.
He adds that alterations in metabolic function and the endocrine system including tolerance to carbohydrates, insulin resistance and lower levels of the hormone leptin leading to obesity, are mechanisms that still require further investigation. There is much interest in determining whether dream disturbances such as reducing the amount of sleep or disorders like apnea can worsen the metabolic syndrome. The metabolic syndrome is a risk factor for hypertension, obesity, high cholesterol, insulin resistance, increased cardiac risk and infarct.
