Tequila could help you lose weight according to a study, also if you drink red wine before going to bed. These and other options could be useful if your weight is above normal values in relation to your age and height.

But if your weight or overweight will cause serious health problems, it is best that you visit your doctor who may suggest medication or surgery to remove the excess weight. You will need to discuss with your doctor the risks and benefits of surgery.

The weight is a rule of balance between calories consumed and calories burned. You will gain weight if you eat more calories than you need. But the bottom line to successful weight loss over time is a serious commitment to change your lifestyle, eating a healthy diet rich in fruits, vegetables and water and improving your exercise habits. To achieve this goal you can rely on your family, your friends and your doctor.

There will always be small or large setbacks in your effort to lose weight, but you must have an intelligent plan to anticipate these contingencies.

There are no magic bullets for weight loss and is not easy to lose weight, only determination, discipline and persistence will help you get and keep that figure you are looking for.

Drinking tequila to lose weight

A round of tequila could be useful and attractive in your efforts to lose weight, but take this claim with caution.

The American Chemical Society found that sugars found in tequila could help people lose weight and lower blood glucose levels. The scientists, led by Mercedes G. Lopez, found that agavins, a natural form of sugar found in agave plant can act as a dietary fiber that are not digestible and further help people with type 2 diabetes by reducing glucose levels.

Scientists experimented with two groups of mice, one group was given a standard diet and the other group an enriched diet with agavins. The latter group generally ate less and had lower blood glucose levels. The mice that consumed agavins also produced the hormone GLP-1 which delays the stomach emptying and increases insulin production.

Mercedes Lopez said agavins are cheap, have no side effects and helping people to feel fuller, could lead to eat less and lose weight.

Drinking red wine before bed

Dr. Min Du of Washington State University, and other scientists found that resveratrol, a component of red wine could turn bad fat into good fat. They experimented with mice that were given resveratrol and found 40% less weight compared to mice that were not fed resveratrol in their food.

Resveratrol increases progression of genes that help convert normal white fat lipids easier to burn. If enough of these lipids conversion is achieved can partially prevent obesity, said Dr. Min Du.

But not only resveratrol found in red wine, it also occurs abundantly in a group of antioxidants called polyphenols present in fruits. For this reason Dr. Min Du recommends getting resveratrol consuming twelve ounces a day fruit: strawberries, blueberries, grapes, raspberries, apples and other fruits of colors.

In conclusion, if you drink tequila and red wine in moderation it could be helpful in reducing weight, but if you drink too much alcohol your body uses as fuel by increasing the number of accumulated calories, which eventually turn into fat.
